Yesterday, as I said I would, I cheated. I went to a networking event where food was served and where others who do these type of challenges generally will forgo food at such events I ate anyway. I probably could have not eaten and gone unnoticed but I didn't want to be disrupt the event and be asked why I was not joining everyone else in eating. Arguably it could be a teaching moment to explain the hunger challenge but I (and everyone else) was there to hear the speaker and about her project because I knew it would be something I would later blog.
So that's my excuse for cheating and it was really great to have some healthy food! I had green salad, couscous with chicken, bread, cheese and bowl of beans with some cheese and tomato on top. For dessert there was a fruit tart with berries.
However, only water is served to drink. I realized at the event that I hadn't had coffee that morning and I was beginning to feel the lack of caffeine. Normally I could have stopped at a coffee shop but instead I waited until I got home and even though it was late in the day I had my coffee. Poor sleep vs. migraine - lose - lose.
To compensate somewhat for the lunch bounty I had only my ramen dish that evening at home - no toast & peanut butter or other extras.
I also asked the host if someone who were on food stamps could attend the events with accommodation and was told (as I assumed would be the case with the conscious activist who organizes the events) that certainly one could.
